Good evening ladies and gentlemen.

The topic says it all:
I'm looking for a way to customize the folder templates in the windows
explorer. In particular I'd like to change the standard view for document
folders from "tiles" to "details".

I definitely do NOT want to apply the "details" view to all folders, but
only those folders which are assigned the documents template.

Sincerely
Christian

Hello,

You can customize your folder views on a one by one basis. All you need
to do is set the folder to detail view, and Windows will remember to
open it in detail view the next time you open it.

Windows will only remember the settings for up to 400 folders at a time.

Explorer doesn't work that way.

Your best solution is to create folders to store certain file types
and use "Folder View Master" to set the views on those folders,
which will apply to all subfolders.

For example:

C:\Documents and Settings\{username}\My Documents\Docs\
C:\Documents and Settings\{username}\My Documents\PDF\

Hello!

At first I'd like to thank you for your quick response!

This is actually a very decent script, and as far as I have seen on a quick
test run it pretty much gives one every flexibility to customize folders and
subfolders to his needs. Thank you.

Still sad that Microsoft on one hand added the (great) feature to assign
template-views to a folder (and subfolders) but on the other hand gave no
ability to customize these templates - but I think that was fixed with
Windows Vista.

Kind regards
Chris
