Editing URL.DLLHow can delete this from System32? I want to replace it with an edited
url.dll file and it is locked by Windows? Will Safe Mode work? Thanks It's a protected system file, so you may as well forget about it.

You can use the Windows CD to boot into the Recovery Console. Copy your modified file to the root Windows drive (C:) then boot the CD and copy it from there to C:\WINDOWS\system32\. Windows File Protection will then automatically place a copy of your new version in the system32 folder for you. Now reboot your system, and Windows will load your new version of the file. You can then delete the old version safely, and as a side-benefit, Windows will recognize your new version as a system file and protect it! Many people (myself included) think Windows File Protection does more harm than good, and they/we disable it. Instructions can be found all over the internet, Google is your friend here. Or you can simply make sure that there are no copies of URL.DLL or URL.DL_
anywhere that WFP can 'see' them. WFP will then nag once, and give up. If no CD you will probably have an i386 folder on the HD somewhere, BTW.
