http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorials/tutorial62.html#winxp Using Windows Explorer, navigate to WINDOWS\$NtUninstallKB917013\spuninst Open the spuninst subfolder and run spuninst.exe If the $NtUninstallKB917013 folder is not present then your only recourse is to reinstall WDS. Suggest you download it manually, SAVE it, close the browser and any other open programs, TEMPORARILY disable the installed antivirus software including any Services it runs [consult the Help file or the manufacturer's web site], and then install WDS. http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=738FC2DE-49B9-4E69-9227-2206277AB7C9 That *should* allow WDS to install properly and create an entry in Add/Remove Programs. Reboot. REMEMBER to reenable the installed AV afterwards. You may want to disconnect the system from the net/network after downloading, installing, and then uninstalling WDS. Programs, but I get a setup warning message showing me a list of the programs that were installed AFTER Windows Desktop Search. This warning tells me that uninstalling the program the list of after installed programs may not work property..... I don't want Windows Desktop Search on this computer anymore! But, I don't want to mess anything else up. I have a full backup, but am wondering after reading here if you can speak to this also> Thank you - D Show quote "MowGreen [MVP]" wrote: > Show hidden files, folders, and system files: > http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorials/tutorial62.html#winxp > > Using Windows Explorer, navigate to > WINDOWS\$NtUninstallKB917013\spuninst > Open the spuninst subfolder and run spuninst.exe > > If the $NtUninstallKB917013 folder is not present then your only > recourse is to reinstall WDS. > Suggest you download it manually, SAVE it, close the browser and any > other open programs, TEMPORARILY disable the installed antivirus > software including any Services it runs [consult the Help file or the > manufacturer's web site], and then install WDS. > http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=738FC2DE-49B9-4E69-9227-2206277AB7C9 > > That *should* allow WDS to install properly and create an entry in > Add/Remove Programs. > Reboot. > > REMEMBER to reenable the installed AV afterwards.
