Everytime I turn Caps Lock on or off there's a little notification which pops
up in the bottom corner of my window which tells me that I've just turned my
Caps Lock on or off.  Is there a way to disable that notification?

Thanks,
John

Do you have a Logitech keyboard or mouse?

I am using a USB Dell keyboard and mouse which are plugged into my Dell laptop.

Thank you. I was asking because Logitech's SetPoint software embodies
that feature.

Windows XP has an accessibility feature called ShowSounds. If you look
it up in the Help and Support Center you'll find a full explanation,
including how to turn it on and off.

probably similar to what I just replied to you about my wireless HP
keyboard and mouse. In my case, besides likeing the little "tool
tips", which go away in just a second or two, I also like the
extras programmed into the keyboard and the ability to turn MS
Office shortcuts on and off. I guess it is a personal decision of
yours if that kinda stuff is more of a bennie or an annoyance.

Good luck and have a great week!

Alert?  Where's the alert referenced in your subject?

Sounds like my HP, which shows things like "caps lock/unlock", "num
lock", "scroll lock" and the kinda things that little LED lights
used to show on older keyboards.

My HP wireless keyboard does that. I actually think it is kinda
nice. I grew up, so to speak, with keyboards that actually showed
the caps lock key locked down on typewriters then computer KBs that
had little lights for the various key locks. All that has gone the
way of the dodo bird.

But, to your question, if your KB has some software that you
installed to make it do all kinds of fancy things, e.g., program
function keys, use of special keys to launch MS office and the like
as does my HP, then you could always uninstall it.
