Showing folder tree as a defaultIn Windows explorer user has to click the "Folder" icon on the toolbar
for displaying folder tree in the left-pane. How could i setup (or modify the registry) showing the folder view in the left pane of win explorer as default? Thak you!! -- ******************************************************************************************************** Stephen Lo Vancouver, BC., CA. If I am reading you correct all you need to do is create a standard shortcut
for Windows Explorer and place a /e behind the program name. To create a shortcut, right click on a blank desktop area then left click on New, Shortcut. In the window that opens type what I have shown in quotes below then click Next. Type Windows Explorer and then Finish and the shortcut will appear on the desktop. On my computer my properties for the shortcut is "C:\WINDOWS\explorer.exe /e" without the quotes. This will work if Windows is your system folder (as it should be with most installs of Windows XP.) I have my shortcut in the quick launch bar so that I only have to single click on the icon to start Windows Explorer (I do run XP in classic mode.) Let us know if this helps. This changes the default for opening folders from open to explore (which does what you want). Or, go to the following registry key: HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Folder\shell and set the value default = explore (it probably now has default = open) Tools/Folder Options/Use Windows classic folders.
