Re: IME Must Be In Startup Menu?

IME, when installed in XP, puts several executables and other files in the
Startup Menu -- five in all.

I often use my laptop to compose and send messages in Japanese.

But these five files eat up a fair amount of System Memory if in the Startup
Menu.

Must they be in the Startup Menu for IME to function properly or can I
simply bring up IME manually when I need it -- and if so, how do I do that?

Thank you.

Is IME in the question the one of either of version of Microsoft IME?
Is Windows XP in the question a Japanese version?
Or, is it an English version or other language versions?

Please present the file name and the extension of five files in Startup.

I use Windows  XP Pro SP2 US English  version with IME 2002.
but no such things in my startup folder.

Please post more detailed info to microsoft.public.jp.ime

I'm using Microsoft IME 2002 as well -- Version 8.1.4202.0 and do have such
programs set to run when the computer starts up.

The program names are:

IMJPMIG8.1
IMEKRMIG.6.1
MSPY2002
PHIME2002ASync
PHIME2002A

Cheers,

You have Korean & Chinese in your system.

IMEKRMIG.6.1
MSPY2002
PHIME2002ASync
PHIME2002A

If you do not need Chinese and Korean,
you can disable it.
or simply uninstall Chenese and korean IME.

How do I uninstall Chinese and Korean IME without also removing Japanese?

All three languages are entered in IME as _East Asian Languages_.

Check Settngs > Control Panel  > Regional & Language Options >
Languages > Details > Settings tab > under Installed Services
If you can see KC Korean, CH Chinese(PRC), Chinese(TIWAN), etc.
other than JP & EN, remove thoses things.

I only have English [Keyboard Entry] and Japanese [IME Standard 2002 &
Natural Input 2002] inputs there.

But I still have these programs in Startup:

> IMEKRMIG.6.1
> MSPY2002
> PHIME2002ASync
> PHIME2002A

Then you can disable on msconfig.
Or you can use Sutoruns from sysinternals or startup control panel.

Thank you kindly.

I used CCleaner and deleted the entries from Startup.

I can still DISPLAY Chinese and Korean -- which I wanted to maintain.

What you invalidated is an input method. (Chinese & Korean Input Method)
It doesn't influence the display of the font.
The character is displayed by the east Asian language support and the font.
If you do not want display Chinese and Korean.
simply you can delete Chinese Font and Korean Font.
like SimSun, MingLiU, Gulim, GulimChe.
but this is nothing to do with your system resource.
(Of course, the system resource can be saved by reducing the number of fonts. )

I currently have 1,844 fonts installed so I can DISPLAY all sorts of
languages and read text in those languages -- which is what I want to do.

But I only INPUT English and Japanese.

If your main concern is system resources.

just disable Chinese & Korean IME Entry
(uncheck these entry in msconfig)
then
I think you installed too much Fonts.
you better arrange your installed font first
