taskbar streched over two monitors?

Hi, I am using Windows XP Pro with two monitors.

I would like to know if it is possible to have taskbar
streched over both monitors, and if so - how to do it.

Right now I can move taskbar from the default bottom
position everywhere on the edges of each screen, but
I am not able to spread it over two monitors edges.

Both monitors are configured to work with same res. ratio.

It may depend on your video card.  I can't seem to do this with an ATI card
- the two screens appear as a primary and secondary display adapter.  With
an NVIDIA card, it has an option that allows me to spread everything across
both screens.  With an ATI card, I think if you install Hydravision, it may
allow this sort of thing.

I can get something that looks similar to this by having the taskbar with a
quicklaunch toolbar across one monitor bottom, then dragging the
quicklaunch toolbar over to the other screen, where it will turn into a
floating window, then dragging it to the bottom where it will dock across
the bottom edge.  If you use quicklaunch, you could try this.

I have ati radeon 9000 configured as multimonitor
After your claim....
I installed catalyst and hydravsion and these DO NOT HAVE
extended taskbar! This is something I always knew....

How are you achiving this with a software that CANNOT do it, is a mystery!

Perhaps you are using another program you dont know about.

If you insist to your claim please post screenshots showing the settings of
catalyst
that enables the extended taskbar.

I don't "know it all"... I am asking for proof... I dont say that you are
telling a lie...

Post a screenshot somewhere so I can see the settings. And one from your
desktop
with a few programs running on both screens so I can see how the taskbar is
reacting.

I have only read one reference that says that with some ATI cards you can
have
an extended desktop but not in the way you normally have it, with 2 taskbars
(one for each monitor) rather it has ONE long taskbar. Is this the case on
your system?

This is similar to the way some Linux system have an extended desktop
(panorama), but not the conventional way of windows that is built in to the
OS.

This has been discussed thousands of times. Thats why you might think people
are "know it alls".

ATI cards in general do not have this feature, you have to use third party
programs or
vista that has this built in.

I think he was refering to "With an NVIDIA card, it has an option
that allows me to spread everything across both screens."

Easy.....in Nvcpl select  Both Monitor in Horizontal Span (One Large Horizontal Desktop). The Tricky part is using more than two Monitors. In Multiple Monitor setup appears as (2 of 3) + 1 . -- Organhereford ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Organhereford's Profile: http://forums.techarena.in/members/96400.htm View this thread: http://forums.techarena.in/customize-xp/513628.htmhttp://forums.techarena.in
