"Preacher Man" <SLaw***@bouldincorp.com> wrote in message What do you mean exactly?news:elRfrhgFFHA.3648@TK2MSFTNGP10.phx.gbl... > What is the best way to perform a MAC-IP address resolution? IP addresses are resolve to MAC addresses by using ARP. Any book that explains ARP and RARP on the same page(s) without explaining that they are NOT practically related to each other is a worthless piece of [junk]. Use it for a doorstop. RARP are ARP are alike in two ways only: They use a very similiar packet type and they rhyme. What I am trying to get at is that in Netmon in shows me the MAC addresses
but not the ip addresses. How do I take the MAC address and resolute that to an IP address? I got around this by looking in my Cisco Router arp table, but is there not a way to do this with some type of command? Thanks. (You can also make it permanent, and save the whole configuration.) Doesn't stop you from having to look them up (save them in an Excel spreadsheet or text file if you take the trouble) but it gives you a way to configure to use those names etc. |
