time synci have a peer to peer network (i.e. workgroup) with several PCs. 3 are
running WinXP and the other 5 are running Win2000. it would be convenient if i could set the time on 1 of them and have the others automatically synchronize with that PC periodically. none have internet access. is this possible using Windows time service? it seems as if it should be but most KB articles seem to suggest that a domain controller is required. Thanks for any help, steve See Windows, Help and Support, look up NET TIME and the /set parameter

domain OR has a connection to the internet. My situation is neither. i have tried the command: net time \\192.168.1.254 /set, but for this to work, i think the computer at \\192.168.1.254 must be set up to be a time server. if that net time command should work, then what must i do to get \\192.168.1.254 to think it is a time server and respond? System error 5 has occurred Access is denied so this leads me to think if i change some setting on \\192.168.1.254 then it would enable it to provide time to a requester. anyway, just googled the error message and came up with this, will check i out tomorrow. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/555644 thanks steve Bob I wrote: Show quoteHide quote > try > > net time \\ComputerName /set > > > > Steve wrote: >> i had done some searching. according to Windows help, the PC must be >> on a domain OR has a connection to the internet.
