When I start msnews.microsoft.com, click Newsgroupes, I get a long list. All
say Microsoft.Public....    How do I expand the names so I know which ones I
want to subscribe to.   I found this group by chance.  Thanks

Old Geaser,

Well, that is what I would expect under msnews.microsoft.com.  What were you
looking for?

Normally there would be a header bar in the Newsgroups window, with a
dividing line between the "Newsgroup" column and the "Description" column.
You should be able to drag that dividing line to the right, to increase the
width of the column so you can see all the names.

I should have said I am using Outlook Express.  When I open news groups and
get the long list, there is no column to drag.   I have not used newsgroupes
in years. I do not remember what I did at that time to expand  the  names. I
think I had to type something in the box at the top.   Thanks anyway.

In Outlook Express, using Ctrl-W should take you into a dialog where you can
see all groups (and even search them)

I'm using Windows Mail now, which is not very different from Outlook
Express.  I used to use OE, and I don't remember having this problem.  Are
you looking at the newsgroups in the folder pane?  If so, I believe that
pane is resizable.  On the other hand, if you're looking at the Newsgroups
window (which you can open by pressing Ctrl+W, as Doug said), you ought to
be able to resize the columns -- unless, of course, I've forgotten some
major difference between OE and WM.

If I were you, I'd carefully hover my mouse pointer over various likely
borders and dividing lines, to see what might be resizeable.  This should
not be so much of a problem as all that.

I must have something wrong with Outlook Express.  Using Ctrl+W takes me to
the same list as I had before. Hovering the mouse does nothing either.

I have Windows Live mail also. I checked it and everything is fine there.
The reason I quit Live mail was, I could not make separate folders of
addresses like I can with Outlook Express. I can make a separate folder but
the addresses I put in it also goes into the main folder, and when I delete
them from the the main folder it also deletes them from the 2nd folder. I am
sure there is a way to have a 2nd folder with different addresses, but it is
most likely my age. That's why they call me Old Geaser (Can't evan spell
Geaser correct)   Thanks

Bert

I'm sorry, it's been too long since I've used Outlook Express.  Are you able
to take a screenshot of the window?  If so, you could e-mail it to me, and
maybe that would refresh my memory.  You can get my e-mail address by
removing NO SPAM and INVALD from the reply address of this message, or from
my website, which is listed below in my signature block.  Please don't post
that e-mail address here, though;  spammers and viruses harvest e-mail
addresses from the newsgroups for their evil purposes.

Now that I have discovered I can use newsgroupes in live mail, I think I
will go back to live mail and keep on trying to figure how to have 2 or 3
mail address folders. Thanks for the help and offers.

You're welcome.  I don't know anytthing about Live Mail, so all I can do is
wish you good luck.
